The fund aims at organisations assisting in integration of refugees 2nd February 2010: The UK Border Agency has announced that the call for proposals for the European Refugee Fund 2009 is open. The fund is mainly aimed at organisations involved in setting up projects that assist in the integration of refugees or people who have been granted humanitarian protection or discretionary leave. The value of the fund available for external tender for 2009 is approximately £800,000. The closing date for completed applications is 1600 on Thursday 25 March 2010. At least £500,000 is available to co-fund projects that seek to set up or improve counselling and return information measures. Established on 1 January 2008, ERF III aims to support the efforts of European Union (EU) member states in the reception of asylum seekers and the way that asylum claims are processed; the integration of refugees and people with other forms of subsidiary protection, such as humanitarian protection (HP) and discretionary leave (DL). It also supports the development, monitoring and evaluation of asylum policies within the member state; the resettlement of those in need of protection as identified through resettlement programmes in conjunction with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); and the transfer of asylum seekers between member states under the Dublin II regulations. |
