‘Work on to improve Tube, London Overground, London Tramlink and DLR’
Check before you travel on February 13 and 14, Saturday and Sunday, for work is on to improve the Tube, London Underground and London Tramlink.TfL is urging all Londoners and visitors to the city to “check before you travel” at weekends, allowing extra journey time where necessary.
TfL’s range of Travel Tools help passengers plan journeys, get travel information on the move and work out the safest way home www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/traveltools. For free mobile and email alerts to keep up to date on all Transport for London services you can sign up at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/mobileservices/default.asp. As well as from the TfL website (www.tfl.gov.uk/check) passengers can check before travelling via the following options: The London Travel Info 24hrs telephone helpline: 0843 222 1234; and Information on posters, leaflets and “Good Service” boards at Tube stations.
The Circle line is completely suspended all weekend due to engineering work at Baker Street. Passengers should use alternative Underground or local bus services.
Southfields station on the District line will be closed all weekend due to station improvement work. A rail replacement bus service will operate between East Putney and Southfields.
Passengers travelling between central London and stations between Upney and Upminster are advised to use c2c train services between Fenchurch Street and Barking, changing there for the Rail replacement bus service C or D. Passengers travelling between central London and stations between West Ham and Barking are advised to use c2c services from Fenchurch Street.
Rail replacement bus services operation: Service B: Between East Ham and Barking. Service C: Calling at Barking, Upney, Becontree, Dagenham Heathway and Dagenham East.Service D: Calling at Barking, Dagenham East, Elm Park, Hornchurch, Upminster Bridge and Upminster. The East London line is closed for major extension work until summer 2010. The Jubilee line has no planned work this weekend.
Archway station on the Northern line will be closed all weekend for modernisation work. Valid tickets will be accepted on local buses between Highgate and Tufnell Park. In addition Archway station will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late May 2010 for improvement works.
Clapham South and South Wimbledon stations on the Northern line will close early from 22:00 Sundays to Thursdays until late April 2010 for improvement works. For Clapham South, passengers should use existing local bus services to and from Clapham Common or Balham. Balham station is in zone three. For South Wimbledon please use local bus services.
London Overground services will be suspended between Gospel Oak and Stratford all weekend. Replacement buses will run calling at all stations except Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station, passengers should take the bus from Holloway Tube station instead.
A special bus service will operate between East Croydon and New Addington, serving all stops except Lebanon Road and Sandilands, (which will be served by trams on the Beckenham and Elmers End lines). Passengers for New Addington line stops are advised to change to a bus at East Croydon. Valid tickets will also be accepted on local buses.
DLR is suspended between Canning Town – Beckton all weekend while planned engineering work is being carried out. A bus replacement service will run for local journeys.
